WAM Get Involved: Loan Shark Awareness Training

 

Date: Tuesday 15th August

Time: 10:30am to 11:30am

Venue: Council Chambers, Town Hall, St. Ives Road, Maidenhead, SL6 1RF.

 

Detail:

 

As part of a month of awareness raising WAM Get Involved in partnership with Stop Loan Sharks are running a short training session, the purpose of which is to provide knowledge and information about the project and how we can help those who have borrowed from illegal lenders.  The length of the session is one hour.  The presentation will include key things to look out for as a sign that a colleague, client or friend may be involved with a loan shark.  We will show the impact that illegal lenders have on victims and communities and how we can work together. The session will cover each of the following areas:

 

Background to the Stop Loan Sharks Project.

 

Introduction to Loan Sharking.

- What is a loan shark?

- Size and scale of the issue

- How loan sharks operate

 

Victims and Loan Sharks.

- Examples of loan sharks we have prosecuted

- Link between loan sharks and other criminality

 

Effects of Loan Sharking on peoples lives.

 

How you can make a difference.

10/8 - 11/8  Thursday midnight / Friday 0.05  Oxford Road East.  Car window smashed - vandalism

 

ETON & ETON WICK:

10/8  Thursday 8 a.m. / 5 p.m.  Alma Road, Eton Wick.  Locked up bike stolen.  A brown, bike.

CLEWER, DEDWORTH & OAKLEY GREEN:

I have just had a report of Nottingham Knockers in their Dedworth area and Clewer Village. 

8/8 - 10/8  Tuesday 6 p.m. / Thursday 9 a.m.  Green Lane.  Garage break.  Padlock forced and door damaged.  Chainsaws X 2 and a set of golf clubs stolen.

11/8  Friday 5 a.m.  Maidenhead Road.  A witness reported to lads breaking into a neighbour’s car.  They were disturbed and made off.  Not yet known if anything stolen.

 

CLEWER EAST & PARK:

10/8  Thursday 2.30 p.m.  Park, York Road.  The rubber flooring has been damaged in an area near the roundabout it has been torn up.  Did anyone witness this ?  If anyone has any intelligence please contact the PEC on the 101 number of phone CrimeStoppers in complete confidence on 0800 555 111

DATCHET, HORTON & WRAYSBURY:

Excellent Village NHW follow-up meeting last night in Datchet organised by Jo Strickland and Kate Fitzgerald from the Parish Council.  My thanks to those who fed in suggestions to local issues, we are already following those up.  Partners have been contacted and details passed on.  Thank you as always for giving up your valuable time to help protect your community.
