Winter Lane - Hay Stack Fire

Alert message sent 08/10/2017 08:36:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police are investigating a suspected arson to a hay stack in Winter Lane, West Hanney just after 1700hrs 7th October 2017.

The fire caused thousands of pounds worth of damage as well as the time of multiple fire crews.

A fire crew on scene reported that a member of the public stated two 14 year old boys were seen leaving the stack before the fire.

Clearly we would like to speak to the boys, the person who reported this to the fire brigade and anyone else that may have been in the vicinity and witnessed something suspicious.

Parents and guardians; please remind your children that 'playing' around hay bails can be extremely dangerous. There have been numerous farm workers killed by falling hay bails over the years. It is also trespass and could result in criminal damage and ultimately arson in this case.
