Scams Awareness Month

Alert message sent 06/06/2018 14:55:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

**June is Scams Awareness Month**

Have you fallen victim to a scam?
Don’t be silent. Stigma is a big problem in the fight against scams. Talking about it can not only help you to find support but also prevent others from falling victim to scams. Take a look at
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/scams/spotting-a-scam/

Tactics used by scammers can include sending spam texts. You can report them to www.ico.org.uk/concerns

Remember, computer firms DO NOT make unsolicited phone calls to help fix your computers.

Did you know, last year @ukftweets reported 1.9 million cases of frauds on UK-issued cards, cheque fraud and remote banking fraud. Don’t miss a trick.

Don't forget, you can:
- Get advice from the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline at 03454 04 05 06

- Report scams to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or online at https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud

- Tell friends, family and neighbours about scams you've seen or heard about.

- The Victim support charity gives free & confidential help to victims of crime, their family, friends & anyone else affected.  Visit https://www.victimsupport.org.uk/

Be Scam Aware!
