Roads Policing Security Activity

Alert message sent 10/10/2018 09:01:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Our Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing will be carrying out security activity this week ahead of the Royal Wedding on Friday.

Officers will be patrolling at locations across Windsor. There will also be a broad range of security measures visible in the town and surrounding areas implemented by Thames Valley Police and partner agencies. This will include the increased use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology. Any vehicles which trigger the ANPR cameras will be monitored to ensure they are safe and not involved in criminal activity.

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) barriers will also be used as part of the wider policing of the event.

If you are planning to travel in Windsor on Friday, please leave plenty of time to complete your journey, as it will be busy.

You can find details of local road closures that will be in place on the day on the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead website here: https://www3.rbwm.gov.uk/info/201038/royal_wedding/1391/road_closures_for_the_royal_wedding
