Appeal for information following a distraction burglary in Mattock Close, Headington, Oxford.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information following a distraction burglary in Mattock Close, Oxford.


Between 2pm and 2:15pm on Friday (5/10) a male knocked on the door of an elderly female and said he was from the” Water Board and needed to gain access to the property due to a leak” 

The victim took the man into the kitchen where he insisted she stay and watch him carry out the repair work.


When the victim opened her kitchen door she saw two other men in her living room, they were touching the ceiling.

The victim challenged the men asking who they were and what they were doing inside her living room. All three men then left.

The first offender is described as a slim white man, ages around 40 years old, about 5ft 8ins tall with short brown hair. He was wearing a white short sleeved shirt and grey trousers.

The second offender is described as a white man, stocky build, in his early twenties, about 5ft 10ins tall with dark hair. He was wearing black trousers and a black sweat shirt.

The third offender is described as a white man, in his early twenties, about 5ft 10ins tall with medium brown hair.
